Eka,s Mitra Run and Christmas Celebrations
A December to Remember: The Mitra Run and Christmas Celebrations at EKA
December has been a whirlwind of energy and celebration! From early morning runs to festive gatherings, it has been a busy month. Here is a look at what I’ve been up to lately.
The Mitra Run at IIM Bangalore
On December 7th, we participated in the Mitra Run at IIM Bangalore, an event organized by the EKA Educational and Charitable Trust.
Early Morning Adrenaline
My day started before dawn with a 5:30 AM wake-up call. After getting ready and lacing up my running shoes, my father and I hopped on the scooter for a breezy thirty-minute ride to the venue.
Upon arrival, we headed straight to registration. While waiting for the event to begin, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as everyone assembled near the stage. The organizers took a moment to appreciate the Chief Guest and the generous sponsors.
To show our gratitude, we sang a song and presented tokens of appreciation to the special guests. Then, it was time to move!
The Race
We kicked things off with an energetic Zumba warm-up session. Once we were limbered up, we moved to the starting line, and the Chief Guest flagged off the run.
My friend and I tackled the course together. We paced ourselves strategically, running a lap and then taking a short rest before starting the second. We repeated this strategy, taking breaks when needed but keeping our spirits high.
We successfully completed the full five kilometers!
The Rewards
After crossing the finish line, we returned to the stage area to collect our goodie bags. They were packed with treats, including:
- Biscuits and muffins
- Caps
- Medals and certificates
- Fridge magnets
Before heading home, I stopped by the "Veg Puff for Tummy Fuel" stall for a well-deserved snack. It was a tiring but incredibly fulfilling morning.
Reflecting on Last Year’s Christmas & Foundation Day
Looking back, last year's combined Christmas and Foundation Day celebration remains a core memory.
We arrived at the Academic building at 9:30 AM, and the morning immediately began with warm hugs and photos, setting a joyful tone for the day. We sang Christmas carols together, followed by some delicious snacks. Once we had eaten, we hit the dance floor to burn off the energy.
Then came the highlight of the morning: the gift exchange. The school also surprised everyone with Christmas gifts, which was a lovely gesture. The event then transitioned into the Foundation Day celebration. I even had the opportunity to present a gift to the founders personally. We cut a celebratory cake, danced some more, and headed home with happy hearts.
This Year’s Celebration: Seven Years of EKA
This year, the festivities were just as bright as we marked a significant milestone. We arrived at EKA at 9:30 AM to settle in for the show.
Performances and Christmas Cheer
The performances began with the NIOS students singing beautiful Christmas carols. They were followed by the PV and VOC students, who presented their own creative acts. Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa Claus, who arrived shortly after to distribute gifts!
After the performances, we enjoyed some snacks and listened to the traditional story of Christmas. We spent some time dancing to festive songs before breaking for lunch.
Celebrating Foundation Day
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the Foundation Day celebration. We watched a touching video detailing the history of how EKA was founded, followed by a tribute video congratulating the institution on completing seven successful years and entering its eighth.
The staff organized a fun trivia session, quizzing students on EKA’s history. Finally, the Student Council cut the Foundation Day cake, which was distributed to everyone. We enjoyed the sweet treat, collected our bags, and headed home after a wonderful day.
My Christmas Vacation Plans
As for my holiday plans, I will likely be staying in Bangalore this year. My brother has exams coming up, so I want to be here to support him. I am looking forward to spending quality time with my family at home.
However, nothing is set in stone—if things change, I might make a quick trip to my native place in Andhra. Regardless of where I am, I am ready for a relaxing break!
